Collectif Ès

“ÈS is a preposition that means ‘in terms of.’
It is always followed by a plural noun and thus implies multiplicity—the very multiplicity we seek in the idea of the collective. Speaking as a group in which every individual involved is engaged, without assigned roles, each bringing their own perspective and approach; we view creation as a collective process to produce works that emerge from our shared identity. We take a gamble that every creative work or act is co-signed by all three of us.
Creating live performance means presenting living works, seen and experienced by living people. We pursue this shared experience in our own way: we seek a physical intensity that compels our bodies to engage, to be fully inhabited. A desire to develop physical empathy, to invest in bodies that communicate and radiate the joy of being together. This exploration is constantly fueled by our questions about communication, group energy, the necessity for us to operate in this way, and the social role it can play. Creating is an opportunity to come together, to work together, and to question our relationship with one another.
Since 2011, we—Émilie Szikora, Jérémy Martinez, and Sidonie Duret—have been co-creating pieces that, with a touch of self-deprecating humor, explore themes such as utopia, disagreement, plagiarism, and the legacy of popular culture. ”

Supported artists from 2022 to 2024. The ÈS collective has been directing the CCN in Orléans since January 2025.
