In 2024, the FAIR-E / CCN Collective of Rennes and Brittany and Au bout du plongeoir will join the international network of L’L | A Different Approach to the Performing Arts. Each season, they jointly host artist-researchers in residence at L’L. The first pair of these Rennes residencies took place from July 8 to 26, 2024, with Johanne Pastor at Le Garage (Rennes) and Christophe Le Blay at Au bout du plongeoir (Thorigné-Fouillard).
Building on research into the concept of “flow” (or a state of hyper-concentration), theorized in the 1970s, Johanne Pastor seeks to find her own paths to achieving this state of full engagement and to explore the creative openings it can create—particularly through the body. As for Christophe Le Blay, drawing on his in situ explorations of the surroundings of his places of residence, he seeks to develop—through the prism of color—a language that would unite the theoretical and the sensory in a shared moment anchored in the present.
Based in Brussels, L’L | chercher autrement en arts vivants supports long-term research practices that are deliberately situated outside the usual chain of production and performance. Combining reflective work and stage practice, a research project at L’L is a process that spans several years, consisting of at least four residencies per year, held in various locations thanks to a network of international partnerships (with the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International), during which resident researchers receive guidance and financial support in the form of grants from the L’L Foundation (a public-benefit foundation).
