Consonant with her activist background, Marion Poupinet’s career has been informed by a strong desire to tear down interdisciplinary barriers and make culture accessible to all. Touring the backstage of theater festivals and slam performances, she strives to establish communication between the city, the countryside, and the major national stages; to go back and forth “between the margin and the center.”
Her encounter with Céline Gallet, with whom she has formed a complementary duo, led to the formation of Garde Robe, a structure dedicated to supporting artists and pooling production resources. More than a mere agency for shared production, the two artists are involved at every stage of the creation process and shoulder the burden of choreographic projects, not unlike a production label. Closely collaborating with artists choreographers, they have established an innovative working pattern which serves as a common nexus with the collective FAIR-E. As part of the joint leadership of the CCNRB, the duo take advantage of the institution as a new testing ground where to re-invent modes of governance by sharing creative and communication tools and encouraging the recognition of artists.
By bridging administration, production, and operations management, Marion Poupinet carries out a singular purpose which consists in opening up new possibilities the way one opens a dance—that is, one step after another.
