Ndoho Ange

A dancer, performer, and visual artist, Eliane Edou, also known as Ndoho Ange, explores the spirituality of our time, particularly through a body of photographic and video work she has been developing for several years.
Trained in hip hop dance and specializing in house dance and freestyle hip hop, she is interested in so-called trance dances, which she discovered through the Dunham technique taught at the Centre Free Dance Song in Paris. After completing a degree in photography, she studied TECHNI’KA de Lénablou in Guadeloupe in 2010—a choreographic style rooted in Caribbean tradition (gwo-ka) and contemporary dance. Her fascination and curiosity about Voodoo began when she was still a child, after finding a book on the subject in her mother’s library.
Immersed in this world, she discovered a multitude of divine figures and pursued her research across several disciplines: music, painting, and singing… For a long time, Ndoho Ange has been asking herself these questions: Must one necessarily be initiated to understand Voodoo? What is her Voodoo atmosphere—the gestures, the songs—that lead her into a trance?
