Founded in 2014, the ∏Node collective is dedicated to research on radio as a medium for experimentation.
Through the development of specialized tools, workshops for sharing practices, and the “Antivirus” survival marathon program, ∏Node explores the many dimensions of radio: its physicality (the ether, radio waves, and the electromagnetic spectrum), its spatiality (bandwidth, frequencies), its infrastructure (network of radio receivers and transmitters), its production and editorial methods, content management (program schedules/teams, recording studios), its methods of receiving metadata (RDS/SDR), its history (free radio movements and pirate radio), and its legal framework.
∏Node also examines the future role and potential of radio in the all-digital era. Available online, occasionally on (mini)FM, and 24/7 on DAB+ in Mulhouse and Paris, this radio station brings together content from diverse sources and features everything from server sonifications to endless playlists, as well as live broadcasts, conferences, and concerts from Paris, Helsinki, Lausanne, Montreuil, Bilbao, Bourogne, Valparaíso, Berlin, Bergen…
