Guillaume Bariou

As a child, he wanted to be a crocodile breeder—like Crocodile Dundee.
As a young adult, he saw himself as a rock critic—the gonzo kind.
But things didn’t turn out that way…
Fresh out of college with a degree in Philosophy, specializing in Musicology, Guillaume Bariou began working in community radio, where his passion for music was reaffirmed and his love for the voice—for voices—grew. At the same time, he pursued several musical projects that led him to compose a soundtrack for dance in 2003. Since then, he has worked as a musician and sound designer for numerous theater, contemporary dance, and hip-hop companies.
In 2004, he founded an association to organize dance parties: Biche Prod. This association would gradually evolve into a company dedicated to his projects. After his first musical performance in 2007, Ecce Homo, he directed his first theatrical production in 2015, Mundo Mantra, based on the psychedelic novel Mantra by Argentine author Rodrigo Fresan. In 2016, he wrote and created Remplir la nuit, an apocalyptic tragicomedy.
Since October 2016, he has been a guest artist-in-residence at Théâtre de L’L, a center for research and support for emerging artists in Brussels. His first research project is titled Who cares? and revolves around the themes of altruism and empathy.

On the soundtrack front, he works and collaborates closely with directors Marylin Leray and Marc Tsypkine (A Boat for Dolls, Our Parents’ Sexual Neuroses, St. Sauveur of Spilled Blood, Zone), Hervé Guilloteau (Rameau’s Nephew, Victory, Untitled Monologue, My Way, Kill the Cow), Laurent Maindon (Asphalt Jungle, In the Land of…, Rhapsodies), Joel Jouanneau (Pink Punk Cirkus), as well as François Chevallier (Still Life in a Ditch, The City) and François Parmentier (Bluff)…
He also participates in productions by various contemporary dance and hip-hop companies: Cie Yvan Alexandre (Fractions, Blanc-Sev., Les Solis noirs), KLP (E-Nondations, Sissa, Insolents solistes, Tour of duty), Cie Esther Aumatell (Flowers of Romance, Murmures, Tragicos anheros), Group Berthe (Les pieds sur la nappe, Orties)…
With Biche Prod, Guillaume Bariou served as co-director of the Nouveau Studio Théâtre de Nantes from 2022 to 2024.
