Simon Tanguy

Simon Tanguy, born in 1984, is a dancer and choreographer with an unconventional background. His artistic journey was shaped by a variety of experiences before he devoted himself to dance: judo, circus arts, a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in Rennes, and clown school in Paris. In 2011, Simon Tanguy earned a degree in choreography from the Amsterdam National Conservatory. His career as a choreographer began with the creation of his first two works, Japan and Gerro, Minos and Him, which won awards and toured throughout Europe. Simon Tanguy has also danced for choreographers such as Boris Charmatz, Deborah Hay, Maud Le Pladec, and Tatiana Julien. He created People in a Field (2014), I Wish I Could Speak in Technicolor (2016), and Fin et suite (2019). In 2016, he reworked the performance inging by New York-based choreographer Jeanine Durning. In 2023, in collaboration with Thomas Chopin, Simon Tanguy reworked the solo Je voyais ça plus grand and co-created the group piece Crépuscule Frisson. His artistic signature explores humor and dance, demonstrating his ability to thrive across a wide range of artistic disciplines.
