Mioshe

Antoine Martinet, known as Mioshe, draws and paints on walls and canvas, exploring the relationship between humans, the urban environment, nature, and the spaces in which these elements exist. His artistic world blends hybrid and fantastical figures, flora and fauna, the masculine and the feminine, the cosmic and the historical.
Both landscape-like and at times cartographic, his pictorial compositions may evoke certain paintings of the Flemish Renaissance, or, on a more distant note, the archetypes of ancient Greece or ancient Egypt.
These journeys through the ages allow him to shed light on sensitive subjects, particularly in his tapestry work and paintings on jars: The consumption of natural resources, areas in need of protection, and power dynamics in society are among the themes the artist seeks to address in these works.
For the past decade, many of her projects have taken place in public spaces in France, as well as through mural projects in partnership with the French Institutes (Phnom Penh in 2016, Saint Petersburg in 2019, and most recently Bucharest in 2022).
Her work inevitably resonates with its surroundings. The architecture, the colors of the landscape, and the history of the sites are all elements she considers when crafting the visual narrative of her future creations.
