Nadia Gabrieli Kalati, also known as Nadéeya GK, is a Cameroonian-Italian dancer and choreographer based in France. Her artistic journey has been shaped by the intersection of traditional Cameroonian dances – passed down to her from childhood within her family circle – and hip hop dances, which she discovered upon arriving in Europe. This dual cultural background now informs a practice deeply rooted in the concepts of memory, transmission, and identity. A self-taught dancer, she enriched her artistic journey through various encounters, notably with Karlos Da Silva, before continuing her training at the École des Sables in Senegal, where she deepened her connection with pan-African heritage dances. It is in house dance that she has found her preferred form of expression, developing a unique choreographic language at the crossroads of club culture and African heritage. A recognised performer on the hip hop and contemporary dance scenes, she has collaborated with several leading figures, including Ousmane Sy as part of the Paradox-Sal collective, Bintou Dembélé on Les Indes galantes, and Qudus Onikeku and Blick Bassy. Alongside her work as a performer, she develops her own creations and is actively involved in passing on her art internationally. As founder of the aKôT company, Nadia Gabrieli Kalati premiered her first solo work, Sawata, in 2025, supported notably by the Initiatives d’Artistes en Danses Urbaines (IADU) programme, the FAIR-E / CCN collective in Rennes and Brittany, and La Villette. This work marks a new stage in her career, establishing a personal choreographic style that bridges the personal and the collective.
