“Whilst b-boying is the foundation of my dance, I very quickly broadened my horizons to embrace a wide range of influences beyond hip hop. This now informs the various projects I have undertaken, whether solo, in pairs or as part of a collective, always with a sincere focus on the diversity of people’s backgrounds and the concept of the group. Thus, I seek above all to highlight self-taught performers, to question the boundaries between the stage and the audience, the stage and the outside world, and to open up spaces that invite dialogue.”
Témoin is the result of a working process developed over several years from the performance Apaches, which brings together self-taught dancers, ‘witnesses’ to their era, their dance and their generation. The myriad ways of engaging spontaneously with the art of improvisation inform the choreography, which is built on the dynamics of deep listening and the momentum of the encounter.
